PRACTICAL EXERCISE: “STATIONS FOR THE STUDY OF MATTER”
ABSTRACT
With the purpose of achieving a bigger understanding of the whole dynamics of changes that happen in the nature, the practical exercises “Stations for the study of Matter” has been implemented. This learning strategy was applied to a sample of 152 students of Integral Education, pre-school and Special Education at Instituto Pedagógico de Caracas. A pre-test was applied before of develop the practical exercises; this was done with the idea to determine the previous conceptions that the students had. Then, after of development the practical exercise, a post- test was applied for to determinate the conceptual changes produced. The results show an evident improvement in the conceptions of the students in relation to the consideration of ̈material character ̈ of all the bodies; however, alternative conceptions prevail with regard to the atomic-molecular character from the living things, because they recognize in smaller measure the atomic constitution of the living beings.
